Biggest Spy Satellite Launched

A spy satellite owned by the United States was launched on Sunday (11/21/2010). By the National Reconnaissance Office that designed it, the satellite is said to be the largest satellite in the world without detailing how its size. The satellite is believed will enhance U.S. ability to spy on the enemy.

The rocket used in the satellite launch was the Delta 4-Heavy. The rocket carrying the satellite was launched from Cape Canaveral, Florida, United States, at 17:58 am local time Monday morning Indonesian time. "The mission is to help ensure that the equipment at the National Reconnaissance Office can continue to enhance our national defense," said U.S. Air Force Brigadier General Ed Wilson.

The NRO has been designing, creating, and operates spy satellites and satellites to serve the needs of U.S. spy agency, the Central Intelligence Agency and U.S. Department of Defense.
