Randai subjects had become compulsory curriculum at the University of Hawaii during 2000-2001, said Cultural Sumatra, Musra Dahrizal Katik Rajo Mangkuto, in Padangpariaman Friday.
Musra was familiarly called "Mak Katik" randai it has taught art at the university for one semester. In fact, in August 2011, he again was invited to Hawaii to teach randai.
Mak Katik never display randai involving foreign students from eight countries to be a player, musician, and PENDENDANG to the story "Umbuik Mudo" which translated from Minang language into English.
Arts randai, Mak said Katik who also addressed sebaga "Tuo Randai", liked and admired for its management with customary and religious philosophy.
"Behind the martial art of dialogue and movement, full of traditional philosophy and religion that became the basis of life," he asserted.
According to him, when the Minangkabau art could become compulsory curriculum abroad, should be in the realm of his own, too.
Because not a priority of indigenous cultural curriculum Minangkabau in West Sumatra, he added, making the role ninik-mamak (brothers mother, and ed.) No longer felt.
On a separate occasion, Chairman of the Institute for Indigenous Natural Density Minangkabau (LKAAM) West Sumatra, Sayuti Dt. Rajo Pangulu said it will again attempt to restore traditional values and culture in the community that began to fade.
